The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) recently announced that the Wisconsin Action Coalition, co-led by the Wisconsin Center for Nursing, Inc. (WCN) and the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative, received a second two-year grant through the Future of Nursing State Implementation Program (SIP).
The second round award is for Wisconsin Nursing LEADs the PACC: Partnerships in Action for Community Care, follows the success of the first grant, Taking the LEAD for Nursing in Wisconsin: Leadership, Educational Advancement & Diversity.  The PACC project is funded for two years, ending January 31, 2017, and is being led by WCN as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
Specific recommendations from the IOM Report were chosen for the project:

  • Increase the proportion of nurses with a BSN degree to 80 percent by 2020.
  • Expand opportunities for nurses to lead and diffuse collaborative improvement efforts.

Diversity will again be infused into all grant activities. Key strategies from the first round for ongoing leadership training will also be included in this grant. Specific goals for grant workplan activities are:

  • Sustain statewide structure for advancing goals from the IOM Future of Nursing Report.
  • Advance nursing education to include BSN completion & enhanced leadership training.
  • Develop a regional partnership to enhance interprofessional collaboration & community-based approaches to care.
  • Promote systematic assessment & activity to increase nursing diversity in Wisconsin.

An Advisory Council, and Learning Collaboratives comprised of members from academia and practice, will again be appointed to accomplish grant deliverables.
WCN is grateful to the many ‘LEADers of the PACC’ partners who provided funding to support our efforts to achieve this important grant award:

And many private individual donors & nursing champions!
Thank you to all our contributors!
